Coaching & Chaperoning Process

Volunteer Coaching & Chaperoning

The Oregon City Community Education relies on volunteers to support our youth sports programs. Each year, volunteers from all walks of life give countless hours of their time, energy, and experience to our athletes. We appreciate you and your commitment to our youth athletes!

Volunteer Coach Expectations

  • Complete the Volunteer Application for OCSD for this school year (must be done every year)

  • Complete a Fingerprint/Background Check for OCSD (must only be done once)

  • Complete all required training and verifications

  • Attend the coach's meeting and clinic

Generally, coaches run 2 practices a week. Coaches determine the day and times of these practices in conjunction with our coordinator. In addition, Saturday mornings typically are game days. Coaches are asked to recruit an assistant coach to help support their athletes.

We want our coaches to have a great experience. We provide our coaches with a handbook that includes the agreed-upon game rules, student, family, and spectator information, important dates, student emergency information, and other critical details. Coaches are expected to have this easily available at all times. Site supervisors are available while on school grounds and can help support any facility needs that may arise.

Coaches are expected to communicate any concerns or problems with the coordinator, speak positively about students and the program, and encourage every athlete to be their best. Need something more? Just let us know.
