OREGON CITY YOUTH CHEER AND DANCE

It is the goal of Oregon City Youth Cheer and Dance (OCYCD) to introduce 1st-8th grade athletes to sideline cheer and halftime game performances. Cheerleaders will cheer at Oregon City Youth Football games and perform a dance for halftime entertainment.

OCYCD is a no-cut team and we make sure everyone feels at home on one of our teams. We will work with each athlete at his/her skill level to make sure this is an outstanding experience for everyone. No previous experience is necessary, but we do expect all of our athletes to work hard and bring a positive attitude.

  • A typical season starts in August for drop-in style practice where athletes learn cheers and dances that will be performed throughout the season. These sessions will be offered at different times throughout the month to accommodate family vacations. There will also be a two-day cheer camp led by OCHS Pioneer Cheer and Dance. At camp cheerleaders will learn cheers and a half-time "youth night" routine.  We perform this dance at the youth game with OCHS Pioneer Cheer and Dance team at a High School football game.  The performance includes all OCYCD that participated in the camp and with Pioneer Cheer and Dance team.

At the August clinic teams will work on cheers and dance routines that will be performed throughout the season. The final night of the clinic will end with a parent/team/coaches meeting. This will be a great time to get to know your child's coach, ask your questions and get to meet other parents.

In September and October, we practice 1 day per week and cheer at football games on Saturdays for OC Youth Football league (OCYF) at Pioneer Stadium.  The football games are played every Saturday in September and October, with playoffs the first 2 weeks in November.

Playoffs are open to Junior teams (typically 5th-8th grade) and are dependent on football's outcome. Location and times are typically announced with 1 week's notice.

Football receives its game schedule the week of labor day, therefore our Saturday game schedule is not finalized until early September.
